CarPC Pro first impressions

Thanks for confirming your AADongle Pro is working fine. We'll try and see if we can add further compatibility for the full screen on your model. Can you confirm the year of your car?

My CarPC PRO arrived last night and I started to evaluate. This report relates to the test unit CarPC, don't expect that all features work out of the box.

Good things first: My car does see the CarPC on first attempt, no connection problems detected with my Toyota GR Yaris 2020. The touch screen works, reaction times are fine, basic functions are all there [pic 11]. To implement a shortcut to the Android settings is a big help for connecting new devices while the CarPC settings focuses on adapting to your car [pic 07].

Improvements needed: Trying to connect to my phone provider didn't work using the SIM card. The CarPC doesn't provide an IMEI [pic 10] and so my network refuses to connect [pic 15]. This feature doesn't work out of the box and needs refinement.
There are some leftovers which should be removed: For example the FM radio program made me curious and I started it getting the message that I should plug in my headphones - which obviously is impossible [pic 06]. If you look for the "big WOW" start Nitro Setup Server and you'll get lost in seconds [pic 09]. This program itself might be very useful for power users, but is provided in the wrong language at least for me.

Programs I loaded and used:
- Aida64 to check hardware
- Bluetooth Pair BLE to install some Bluetooth hardware
- Force Pair for "injecting" correct pins for Bluetooth devices
- iGO Navigation to test GPS
- IMEI number & find device info
- Torque to get car info on my screen [pic 14]

Conclusion: Basically the CarPC works and the finished product will provide all advertised features. There are some steps to do before reaching this target but I'm sure CarPC team will find solutions (hopefully without any further delays due to Corona and constantly changing Android Auto).

Another test
Waze ok
video playback ok, nice picture and sound
no errors in basic system settings
GPS needs to set up the antenna from the car
A few kilometers at a time and the housing temperature is normal

@kolicek Thanks for continuing to test and for your reporting!  We will try and release another version of the firware and that should hopefully help with the full screen issue. Great job!
