Buenas tardes,

Saludos.

Edit: Official forum language is English, so I translated your message (using translate.google.com):

Good afternoon,

I have had the carpc device for a little over a month and my first impressions have been good, except as I have told in some forums, the gps problem has me on the road to bitterness, since it usually catches the satellites very late, and using that it does not use the vehicle's gps, but if I put it to use it, it does not even connect. Once he catches them, sometimes he positions me badly, and the waze especially drives me crazy, since he tends to lose all the time. Let's see if the developers release some other firmware, to fix this issue, and without rooting the carpc, change it so that it takes the European satellites and not those of China, as any other device would do.

The wifi, the bluetooth, is perfect.

Performance, it's not quite Catholic that I'd like in my Renault Megane RLINK, but for example connecting it to the Qashqai of the year 2020 it's perfectly fluid.

What worries me the most is the GPS issue, since with other Asian browsers (I'm not going to give names) it works without problem.

I hope it's not about hardware but about software.

Regards.

@tiosanturzi Javier, thank you for your report. In my opinion the hardware is quite well / adequate. The longer I work with CarPC the more I see the potential. The updates (last 2.4.88) brought some improvements and developers are working to sort out the problems remaining.

Regarding GPS: You can improve reception and stability by setting your timezone and then restart GPS using a program named "GPS Reset COM - GPS Repair". Your GPS will catch all possible satellites after a while (can be up to 30 minutes and you can monitor that by using GPS Test). After this procedure your GPS should start up much faster with improved accuracy. Note: The screens of most cars have some problems to display GPS reset correct, you have to find your way around - I got it to work for me and I'm sure it will work for you too. Attached you'll find a screenshot that I took sitting in my recliner in the middle of my my living room 🙂

Bye for now  Fred

Received CarPC Pro a day ago. Just connected to a car... Here are my observations:

CAR: Seat Leon FR MY2019, big infotainment 10", without navigation.

DONGLE: CarPC arrived with 2.4.86 version FW. Youtube wasn´t working. All other mandatory features were working.

The connection in the car was without any issues!!! Perfect!

At home, using Mirroid, I updated to 2.4.88. Youtube has started working! But I hadn´t oportunity to try this firmware 2.4.88 in the car.

I hadn´t time to test 4G functionality yet.

CURRENT ISSUES:

1) I noticed one crashing situation: Open Settings of Android (not CarPC settings). Click on search bar. Settings app is going to crash.

NICE TO HAVE:

It is very difficult to scroll down the upper bar (with notifications and quick icons). Is it possible to add a button for slide it down?

¡gracias!

Edit from moderator: Please translate your messages to English which is the official language here. I have done this for you a second time 🙂 There is a saying here: "One time is nothing, two times is is one tine and three times is one time too much"

Thanks for the message Fred. I live in Spain and I already have Brussels +1 time zone set. As for the AGPS reset, I have already been doing it with the GPS Status & Toolbox, it works for you too, but everything remains the same. It doesn't work the same as the other devices you can find on the market, nor the rlink of my Megane.

What do you usually put that uses the vehicle's GPS or the carpc itself? To me using the vehicle's gps, there is no way to catch satellites.

At the moment I don't want to root it but surely you can modify some gps configuration file, so that it points to the European servers and not to the Chinese ones, as is my case.

Changing the subject, I also usually get stuck on a black screen when I run two browsers at the same time (tomtom and waze), in addition to spotify in the background, does this happen to anyone else?

Thank you!

@nimm2 Adam, thanks for your report, much appreciated. Regarding top line: Please try to swipe down on the left side of the bar (worked for me), developers will look into this, for the time being use upper left side.

Bye for now  Fred

@tiosanturzi Javier, resetting the GPS almanac using "GPS reset" results in a cold start of your GPS. Look for a place with good view to the sky, be patient and allow some minutes until first satellite lock). Next time you start GPS the first lock should be within 10 seconds. Brought my laptop close to the window (inside, it's cold outside 😉 ): Fix took 7 seconds, the result is shown on the screenshot below.

Vehicle GPS: Try Settings program (see screenshot). Might work or not - depending on your car's equipment, please try and report here.

There are still some bugs in ROM, the developers are working on that. Again please be patient.

Bye for now  Fred

CAR: VW Passat 2016, Infotainment MIB 2.5 Discover Pro 9.2 inch

DONGLE: AA Dongle CarPC Pro 4G

CURRENT ISSUES:

1) Overheating - too hot after 1/2 hour using navigation like Waze
2) Random self rebooting when using navigation (every 5 - 10 minutes self rebooting)
3) Little bit laggy
4) Poor 4G signal strength
5) Poor GPS signal in the city

NICE TO HAVE:
1) Stability, better signal
2) No overheating and self rebooting
3) Android 11
