Unit was working great. Now it will connect, but no interface. It is a blank screen. The unit's power LED is on. It stays that way until eventually it disconnects.

Timothy, please plug into an USB port of your PC. Usually you don't have to install Mirroid or Vysor, it just makes it easier to see the unit is just "confused". After that it will contact to your car again.

@admin: Please inform the developers about this problem (happened to me too). The CarPC doesn't store the connection setup and sometimes randomly fails to connect.

Bye for now  Fred

@ap756-fred Thank You. I've read a few posts that mention the Vysor software. Is there a recommended link to download it?

@ap756-fred I installed Vysor and put the dongle in my laptop. Was able to see CarPC on Vysor just fine. Plugged back into my truck and same problem. Was there anything I needed to do in Vysor? As I mentioned it was working great for over a month.

@metalt75 Timothy, for the time being there seems to be no permanent solution (I found out that Android Auto tries to update but doesn't succeed). Please try the dongle in a friends car and report back (first attempt my CarPC booted to "black screen", I removed and reinserted, then it started as usual). This should reset the startup procedure and the dongle might work again - at least for a while until the developers solved the problem we have.

Bye for now  Fred

RE: I tried the dongle in a different vehicle and it does the same thing as before. It connects to CarPC, but display remains blank, just black screen and eventually disconnects.

@metalt75 Timothy, sorry to hear that. I've got no feedback from @admin (or from developers) yet. One interim solution is a factory reset, absolutely worst case you have to reflash. Then CarPC will work again for a while...

What is the return policy ?  How can I send back ?

Current problems are:

1) Overheating - too hot after 1/2 hour using navigation like Waze
2) Random self rebooting when using navigation (every 5 - 10 minutes self rebooting)
3) Laggy
4) Poor 4G signal strength
5) Poor GPS signal in the city

What can I do ? Wait for new firmware ? Or send it back ?

@zadar1980 Zadar, as you know CarPC is still in beta, some things don't work "out of the box". Personally I think there is no reason to send it back (for returns contact info@carpc.co), it will be better to get it to work.

Temperature problems and rebooting: Do you use a SIM card in CarPC? I found out that an active SIM card generates a lot of heat (this is a software problem the developers try to fix). For the time being you should try to contact to your phone using WiFi hotspot. Works for me. As a side effect the CarPC responds much faster (much less lag).

I recommend to reflash to the latest firmware and not using the SIM feature for the time being. The GPS signal improved quite a bit over the last updates, but sometimes it tends to be out of position even if it reports contact to more than 18 satellites. Again this is a software problem the developers work on.

I'd say stay with us and enjoy the way from the idea to a working product 😊

Bye for now. Fred

Hello, I'm afraid I'm in the same boat as you. Dongle worked perfectly for me for a month before I suddenly got a black screen.

When I try to connect to my PC, everything works fine; however, when I return to my car, I get a black screen.

The blue light blinks at first, then turns stable for a few seconds before returning to blinking.

What I've already tried without success:

1) Reset the dongle's factory settings

2) Car media factory reset

What else can I do or check?

@auc6epr Unfortunately I have no better idea than flashing the latest firmware again (using SP Flash Tool and option "Firmware Upgrade"). This way the CarPC will be refreshed to a working state. Just as a side note: The "black screen syndrome" seems to be related to the last Android Auto update... Hopefully Google and the developers can fix this annoying problem asap.

Bye for now  Fred

That's quite strange. This problem was not supposed to be solved by resetting to factory settings? (rollback to point before any updates)

What Android Auto update are we talking about, on the device itself or on the car media system?

Thx.
