Good morning. I have updated pccar with the latest version, everything seems to work fine but I still cannot make calls from pccar without entering the SIM...has this problem been resolved? Can you help me?@moisesceltacarpc and @admin: Can't help on this. I know that developers are investigating the possibility to add the programs to make calling via Bluetooth available. Unfortunately there is no more info about this. Somewhere deep in the ROM there are routines missing which prohibit adding any alternative...
Bye for now Fred
@ap756-fred Thank you very much for the information.
A device like pccar without being able to make calls is a device without a reason to exist. It connects to your vehicle without the possibility of letting other phones connect but it doesn't let you make calls through it...did no one think about something so basic before selling it? I don't make sense of this
Hello everyone, I installed the latest Android auto apk 1.5.641013 which works perfectly and which activates other updates from the play store (Google, maps, YouTube....). But the problem still persists to pair the smartphone with the carpc. On the web page: https://carpc.net/products/aa-dongle, it is stated that this is possible. If anyone can enlighten us that would be great. Good day.
To this day I still cannot make calls with my carpc. I gave up using it a long time ago. Every so often I update the machine and download the latest version of Android Auto but I can't make calls. Is there any news about this?
@moisesceltacarpc I think there is no change to report, it's still not possible. And as far as I know there is no help from developers. So without a SIM card installed you can't phone. Sorry, CarPC missed a chance (at least in our two opinion).

Thanks Fred. More than a missed opportunity...it is more like a scam...they sell a product that does not fulfill its main function...after two years they do not provide any solution when there are products on the market for a sixth of the price and working without problems. As I said a long time ago, I have a nice €150 paperweight...@moisesceltacarpc Well Moises, I'd like to define it a bit different: CarPC never promised to make this dongle work as a phone while not using it's own SIM card. Therefore you might blame yourself expecting something which wasn't on the development plan. And we were not able to make them rethink and change their mind (which is a pity).
CarPC designed a product which is different from others (using AndroidAuto instead of Apple CarPlay) and they did their best. When they detected that they were not able to get CarPC working as a phone using resources of your mobile they added the SIM card feature. When the GPS was not working at all (first series with the silver cap) they implemented new hardware and now after some software update it works. And so on...
Believing developers is always a risk. You entered this project at a time when nobody knew which problems will be detected and had to be solved. Well, my personal opinion: We reached about 80%, there is still a chance to reach a product quality and get features which make it worth to keep my hopes up. But you'll never know for sure. You and me, we backed a product under development, that's it.
Bye for now Fred
