This is a short update tutorial to clarify the process of updating (if OTA does not work for you due to rooting or another obstacle). Please be aware that flashing usually deletes all your personal programs and settings, it's your fault if you didn't made a backup 😉. Download folder is  _here_ (backup folder is _here_). Note: As long as the official link works you might download from there. Otherwise I have setup a backup folder in my personal cloud space. This way I can avoid 404's.

Please download the 2.5.18 zip file to your harddisk and expand it. If not already done install Driver_Auto_Install. Find the folder "SP_Flash_Tool_exe_Windows_v5.1920_MT6762" and open it. First part finished.

Reboot your computer and navigate to the folder SP_Flash_Tool_exe_Windows_v5.1920_MT6762, enter that folder and start flash_tool.exe as administrator (right click on the program and select "as administrator"). If there is an error message, just click ok and the program starts and asks you for the correct scatter file. Select (choose) the correct scatter file in the correct subfolder "2.5.18_EU_230525" or "2.5.18_US_230525". Note: Users of the "active" version have to use the official link for download. I'm still searching why the checksum is wrong.

Select "Firmware upgrade" and then click the Download button. Now insert your CarPC into the USB port and start to wait. After 2 to 5 minutes (depends on your Windows PC) there will be a check mark telling you that the flashing process finished (see pic2). Wait for another 5 minutes before you remove CarPC, close SPFlash tools and reinsert CarPC into your USB on the computer (if you have installed Mirroid or Vysor) or insert it in your car's USB and the long wait begins. Your CarPC probably will restart several times (up to ten times) to install all software (there will be a yellow circle rotating) and finally restarts after 5-20 minutes showing a steady blue LED.

Update is finished. You have to set your time zone, language, probably time, connection to your phone (if you dont use the internal SIM card), you can check and reinstall all your programs and data and you can start helping the community to find errors and misbehaviors :-). Looking forward to your reports.

Bye for now  Fred

@oaks REMOVE CarPC from USB, start SPFlashtools, click download and now INSERT CarPC again! SPFlash will only work if it can catch the boot program on your CarPC. Try again and please follow the instuctions exactly.

That was it, perfectly updated, it works on the PC, but it doesn't work in the car.

What could I do more? A downgrade?

@oaks For the time being there seems to be no fix for these new connection problem. We have to wait. CarPC stopped working on some cars around October 16th without visible reason (see _here_). Developers are informed and working on a fix. Please watch the forum, any solution will be announced asap. Nothing else to do 😮‍💨.

Hello, administrators have just approved my account and I post my first message to thank Fred and this forum which allowed me to "resuscitate" my "dead" carPC. Now it has been updated OTA to version 2.60 which seems stable with some small bugs. E.g. it doesn't allow me to change the wallpaper and very often I have to re-enter the password of the smartphone's wi-fi hot-spot. However, I am very happy to be able to reuse my carPC. I followed the tutorial step by step and I was successful. Thank you so much
